Property assessments multiplied by the tax rate rate determine the tax you pay for services that each of the above agencies provide. The State Constitution requires all property to be assessed at the "fair" market value as of October 1st of the pre-tax year. The following items may effect your assessed value: conversion of attic, basement or garage into living areas; installation of a bathroom or powder room, central air conditioning, fireplace, porch, patio, deck, additions, new siding, inground swimming pool, or other structures. Property Tax Deductions are available if you qualify: 1. Five (5) year tax exemption on new improvement for dwelling over 20 years of age. 2. Senior citizen 3. Disabled person or surviving spouse 4. Veteran and widow of veteran 5. Totally disabled veteran |
